Roberta Fulton Fox

November 25, 1943 - August 9, 2009

Roberta Fulton Fox received her undergraduate degree from the University of Florida in political science and history.  She graduated from the University of Florida College of Law in 1967.  She joined the Legal Services of Greater Miami where she concentrated on civil rights litigation.  In 1973, she entered private practice with Myron Gold where she concentrated in the areas of family law, personal injury and employment and civil rights.

Ms. Fox served the people of Florida for ten years as a distinguished and honored member of the Florida Legislature.  She published a law review article on the Uniform Child Custody Jurisdiction Act which was passed into law in 1977.  She was a pioneer in securing the passage of employment background screening legislation, changes to the evidence code facilitating testimony for young victims of crime, an equal educational opportunity act in Florida, and family law reform including passage of the original statutory language giving rise to equitable distribution in Florida.

After returning to fulltime private practice in 1987, she successfully litigated landmark cases in employment, personal injury and family law.  She became a certified Mediator and Arbitrator in 2004.  She is the recipient of numerous awards and recognitions, including the 1973 One of Ten Outstanding Young Women of America Award; the 1986 Florida Women Lawyers Association's Judge Mattie Belle Davis Award for service; and the 1996 Women of Impact Award.

Ms. Fox received the 2004 Pioneer of Miami-Dade County award and was named the first chairperson of the Advisory Committee of the Woman's Study Center at Florida International University.

Her portfolio of work was reflected in the people she represented, both as a member of the Florida Legislature and clients in her private practice.  She strived for fairness, equal rights, and justice.  The firm continues her mission of insuring clients honest and ethical representation at reasonable fees.
